Khulna Masters clinch MCC title

 The masters’ cricketers of the Gemcom Group Khulna secured the title of the Masters Cricket Carnival (MCC), Bangladesh version, with a six-wicket victory over Expo All Stars in the reduced 18-0ver-a-side final at Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium on Wednesday.
Khulna Masters chased down the winning target of 125 for 6 in 17.3 overs with the skipper Habibul Bashar Sumon tops scoring 28 runs. Jamal Babu scored 17 while Harunur Rashid Liton and Mohammad Selim added 15 runs each.
Fahim Muntasir Sumit bagged two wickets for All Stars while Talha Jubayer, Ashanul Haque Sejan and Mukul took one wickets each.
Batting first after winning the toss, Expo All Stars scored 124 for 6 in 18 overs. Sohel Hossain Pappu scored 27 runs while Lavlu Rahman, Azam Iqbal and Javed Omar Belim added 23, 20 and 17 runs respectively.
Tarikul Islam Totam bagged two and Monjurul Islam took one wickets for Gemcon Group Khulna Masters.
Expo All Stars and Gemcom Group Khulna confirmed the final berth beating JB Group Dhaka Division and Confidence Dhaka Metro in the semis by 6 wickets and by 16 runs respectively.
After the six-team maiden edition tournament final, renowned coaches, organisers and sports journalists were honoured with special awards by the former cricketers in recognition of their contributions to promoting country’s cricket.
Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) president Nazmul Hasan handed over the honourary awards to the recipients.
The recipients of the special awards are: Jalal Ahmed Chowdhury, Osman Khan, Syed Altaf Hossain (coaches); Mahbubul Anam, Afzalur Rahman Sinha (organisers); Dilu Khandakar, Utpal Shuvro, Arifur Rahman Babu (sports journalists); Khandakar Tareq, Shamsul Haque Tinku and Mir Farid (photojournalists).
