National Cricket : Tushar, Mithun hit tons: Khulna lead by 71 runs against Dhaka Div

 A fourth wicket stand of 222 runs between the day’s centurions Tushar Imran and Mithun helped Khulna Division to take 71 runs lead against Dhaka Division in the 1st innings on the 3rd day of the 5th round clash in the four-day Walton 16th National Cricket League at Khan Saheb Osman Ali Stadium in Fatullah on Wednesday.
Trailing by 242 runs against defending champion and league leader Dhaka Division in the first innings on the third day, Khulna Division resumed the innings with overnight 124 for 3 in 33 overs and eventually scored 437 for 6 at stumps in 123 overs, riding on the overnight 4th wicket stand off 222 runs in 62 overs by Tushar Imran and Mithun.
Tushar hit a century of 158 runs off 302 balls with 17 fours while Mithun scored 126 runs off 202 balls with 12 fours and five sixes to complete his century. Nurul Hasan scored 35 runs while Mehedi Hasan Miraz and Ziaur Rahman were batting on 16 and 15 runs respectively when the bails drawn for the third day.
Sharif grabbed two wickets for 142 runs while Zubair Hossain took one wicket for 114 runs on the third day.
In the other third day’s play at the BKSP ground-2 in Savar, Chittagong Division trailed by 205 runs to avoid an innings defeat against Barisal Division.
Replying Barisal Division a mammoth 597 runs, Chittagong Division resumed the first innings with overnight 124 for 2 in 45 overs and scored 339 for all in 121 overs, riding on a century of 108 runs by overnight batsman Nafees Iqbal.
Nafees Iqbal’s century came off 291 balls with 16 fours while Irfaan Sukkur scored 52 runs off 115 balls with eight fours.
Nazim Uddin (44), Tasamul Haque (29) and Faisal Hossain (19) were the other contributors for the side.
Sohag Gazi captured five wickets for 133 runs and Mosaddek Hossain took two wickets for 31 runs in the first innings.
Following on Chittagong Division opened the second innings and scored 53 runs for 2 wickets, at stumps, in 12 overs on the third day.
Abdullah Al Mamun and Tasamul Haque were batting on 29 and 3 runs respectively while opener Yasir Ali added 21 runs.
Nasum Ahmed and Sohag Gazi took one wicket each for 14 and 32 runs respectively.
Meanwhile, Rajshahi Division (263 runs in 1st innings) trailed by 179 runs against Rangpur Division in the second innings after the third day’s play at BKSP Ground-3 in Savar.
Rangpur Division resumed the first innings on the third day with overnight 357/3 in 96 overs and declared the innings at 527 for 6 in 156 overs, spurred by Naeem Islam’s unbeaten century of 138 runs off 275 balls with 17 fours and a six.
In reply, Rajshahi Division opened the second innings and scored 85 for 1 at stumps in 26 overs.
Mizanur Rhaman and Zunaid Siddique were batting on 32 and 19 runs respectively while opener Myshukur Rahman added 25 runs.
In the other third day’s play at Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium in Mirpur, Sylhet Division (171 runs in 1st innings) trailed by 324 runs in the second innings against Dhaka Metro (264 runs in 1st innings and 264/8 (dec) in 68 overs in the 2nd innings.
Dhaka Metro opened the second innings (264 in 1st innings) and scored 264 for 8 in 68 overs before declaring the innings with Shamsur Rahman making a century of 103 runs off 103 balls that featured 11 fours and two sixes. In reply, Sylhet Division (171 runs in 1st innings) opened the second innings and scored 33 for 1, at stumps, in 19 overs when the bails drawn for the third day.
