Khulna crush Rangpur by innings and 17 runs in U-16 Nat’l Cricket

Khulna Division crushed Rangpur Division by an innings and 17 runs in their group-B match of the two-day Young Tigers Under-16 National Cricket Tournament at Shaheed Kamruzzaman Stadium in Rajshahi on Tuesday.
In the other group-B match, Chittagong Division riding on Yeasin Arafat Hira’s century of 118 runs played out a draw against Dhaka Division South at Zila Muktijoddha Smriti Stadium in Rajshahi.
Replying Khulna Division 147 runs in the first innings, Rangpur Division (67 runs in the first innings) resumed the second innings on the second day with overnight 39 runs for 3 in 10 overs and frustratingly were bundled out for 63 runs in 24.2 overs.
Skipper cum overnight batsman Abdullah Al Masud (14) was the only double digit scorer for the side on the second day while opener Mostafizur Rahman (17) was the other double digit scorer in the second innings.
Feroz Zaman grabbed five wickets for 14 runs in 7.2 overs in the second innings while Sahadat Sakib captured three wickets for 16 runs in 8 overs.
Nazmul Alom and Jesanul Islam took one wicket each for 13 and 15 runs respectively, both delivered three overs each.

Chittagong vs Dhaka Div South
Chittagong Division resumed the first innings with overnight 129 for 3 in 41 overs and scored a modest 215 for 9-declared in 76.3 overs, spurred by overnight Yeasin Arafat Hira’s century of 118 runs off 171 balls involving 16 fours.
Jahangir Alam scored 20 runs while another overnight batsman Amimul Ahsan added 17 runs on the second day. Yeasin Arafat Joy captured three wickets for 44 runs in 13.3 overs while Foysal Rayhan took two wickets for 34 runs in 17 overs.
Dhaka Division South (108 runs in the first innings) opened the second innings on the second day and scored 177 runs for 5 wickets in 68 overs to play out draw.
Jobaer Howlader-Foysal Rayhan opening stand of 55 runs in 23.5 overs and Shawon Chowdhury-Sakib Sadman unbeaten sixth wicket stand of 50 runs in 13.4 overs spurred the side on the second day.
Jobaer scored team highest 57 runs off 148 runs with seven fours while Shawon (not out 32), skipper Foysal (25), number Sakib (not out 23) were the other notable contributor for the side. Imteaz Alam Riad and Hasan Mahmud took two wickets each for 20 and 41 runs respectively in 8 and 13 overs.
