Entertainment Report :Director of many super hit movies Shahidul Islam Khokon has been passing very tough times with his physical illness. With his present physical condition Khokon attended the janaza of Chashi Nazrul Islam and also went to Bangladesh Film Development Corporation (BFDC) recently to cast his votes in the elections of Directors’ Association and Actors’ Association. But this noted director has been passing his days without work at his residence now. In the country, now Hindi films are being screened one after another, which is giving pain to him. Khokon can’t speak right now. But he protested the matter by writing on paper. His tales are mentioned by this way, “I am giving salute to India for 1971. But why we have to nude to them. In India, to broadcast satellite channels of other countries have to pay 10 crore rupees but in Bangladesh, the amount is only Tk 1 lakh. I am urging the Prime Minister to make it Tk 5 crore in this regard. Bangabandhu made a law to screen Hindi films, which was changed by previous Commerce Minister. Present Prime Minister again enacted the law. What has been changed in the law? I can’t understand.”National Film Award winner and popular film actress Shimla told this correspondent in favour with the remarks of Khokon. She said, “Somebody is trying to destroy our film industry. We should come forward to save our film industry. If we do not protect it in time, not only our film industry but also the whole country will be ruined.”Director Khokon also said, “Now when parents leaves house in the morning children ask them Papa aap kaha ja raha hai? it’s shame, really shame… For this reason, we became independent?”Under the direction of Shahidul Islam Khokon Shimla debuted her acting career by film Madam Phuli. By her debut movie Shimla got the National Film Award. Later Shimla also acted in three other films under the direction of her mentor Khokon. On the other hand, Khokon last made a film titled Chehara to cast Shakib Khan and Ressy. His directed other mentionable films are: Rokter Bondi (1985- first directed), Loraku, Birpurush, Bojromusthi, Biplob, Okorma, Sontrash, Bishdaat, Dinmojur, Biswapremik, Ghatok, Bhondo, Noropishach, Paglaghonta, Joddha, Bheja Biral, Taka, etc. He was president of Film Directors’ Association for two times.
