Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC) Mayor Mohammad Sayeed Khokon distributed foods among poor and destitute people under an initiative to provide essential goods to 50,000 families in the city for one-month.
“We have taken the initiative to distribute daily necessaries to 50,000 families for one-month. As part of that, we are continuing our efforts,” he said this on Sunday while distributing foods in front of Nagar Bhaban in the city.
The list of destitute and low-income group people has been prepared from ward level for successful implementation of the food distribution programme, he added.
He said rickshaw-pullers and drivers are getting food from the initiatives.
The mayor also urged the riches to extend their helping hands to provide daily necessaries to the low-income group people and wage earners.
DSCC Chief Executive Officer Shah Md Imdadul Haque, Ward Councilor Hasibur Rahman Manik and Secretary Mostafa Kamal Majumder and other senior officials were present.
