Dhaka's two city corporation polls: Khokon collects AL, Tabith, Ishrak, Ripon BNP, Milon JP nomination forms

Staff Reporter:Incumbent Mayor Sayeed Khokon on Thursday bought Awami League (AL) nomination form to contest in the Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC) election.
He along with his family members collected the nomination paper from the city’s AL President’s political office at Dhanmondi.
Meanwhile, BNP started selling nomination forms for the mayoral posts for Dhaka North and South City Corporation elections on Thursday.
On first day, three candidates have collected nomination forms of BNP for Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC) and Dhaka South City Corporations (DSCC) mayoral race.
Ishraq Hossain, son of former Mayor of undivided Dhaka City Corporation late Sadeque Hossain Khoka, collected nomination paper from the BNP to fight for the mayoral post in the upcoming polls to the DSCC.
 On the other hand, BNP Executive Committee member Tabith Awal and Special Affairs Secretary Asaduzzaman Ripon collected nomination paper from BNP’s central office at Nayapaltan in the capital on the same day to run the mayoral race in the polls to the DNCC.
Besides, Hazi Saifuddin Ahmed Milon collected Jatiya Party’s (JP) nomination form for the mayoral post of DSCC from the party president’s Banani office yesterday.
Earlier on Wednesday, current mayor M Atiqul Islam collected AL nomination form for election to the DNCC polls while lawmakers Fazle Nur Tapash and Haji Selim collected bought nomination forms for DSCC.
The elections to DSCC and DNCC will be held on January 30 next.
Aspirants can submit their nomination papers until December 31 to the Election Commission, which will be scrutinized on January 2.
The last date of candidature withdrawal is January 9.
