UNB, Dhaka :Claiming that State Minister for Home Asaduzzaman Khan has had his indirect hands in the Narayanganj sevenmurders, BNP vice chairman Sadeque Hossain Khoka on Thursday demanded that the junior minister’s name be put in the murder case.”A few days before his abduction, the slain Narayanganj panel mayor had informed the state minister that his life was in danger. Instead of taking any measurers, the state minister neglected the matter and asked him to go to the local MP. For this, thejunior minister should be made an accused of indirectly abetting the killings,” he said.”So, not only these RAB members, the state minister and more higher officials of RAB should be made accused in the murder case and punish them,” Khoka added. He said, the government should take stern actions against those involved in the gruesome murders so that no one further dares to repeat such an incident. Khoka, also the Dhaka city unit BNP convener, was addressing a press conference at BNP’s Nayapaltan central office. On April 27, Narayanganj panel mayor Nazrul Islam and his three associates and driver were abducted from Fatullah area in Narayanganj city. Hours into their abduction, senior lawyer of the Narayanganj District Judge’s Court, Chandan Kumar Sarker, and his driver were abducted on their way to capital Dhaka.Three days into their abduction, the bodies of six people, including that of Nazrul and Chandan, were recovered from the Shitalakhya and Dhaleshwari rivers on April 30. Besides, the body of Jahangir, the car driver of Nazrul Islam, was recovered from the Shitalakhya River on May 1.Three RAB officials have been dismissed for their alleged involvement in the abduction and killing of the seven people. The BNP was also critical of the Prime Minister as she is in charge of the Home Ministry, saying that she has utterly failed to deliver.”The people of the country and civil society members think Sheikh Hasina who is holding the Home Ministry portfolio has miserably failed to perform. We didn’t see her sincerity in running the Home Ministry,” Khoka observed. The ex-Dhaka city mayor also questioned the competence of State Minister for Home Asaduzzaman in running the administration and the ministry.Khoka criticised the government for barring him from going to the USA for treatment on Wednesday night although he has a High Court order in this connection.
