A leader of Bangladesh Krishak and Khetmajur Samity has been shot and hacked to death in Pabna.
Police said Abdur Rashid, 35, was attacked in front of his house at Chachgharia village in Atgharia Upazila on Wednesday night.
He was returning from the market when assailants shot him and then hacked him with sharp weapons, said Atgharia Police Station OC GM Mizanur Rahman.
He died on the spot.
Rashid was vice president of the Krishak and
Khetmajur Samity’s Atgharia unit.
“Abdur Rashid had been receiving death threats from extremists. They must be behind his murder,” said Zakir Hossain, Pabna unit president of the Workers’ Party of Bangladesh.
