Khelaghar Samaj Kalyan Samity beat Dhaka Abahani Limited by eight runs in their match of the Bangabandhu Dhaka Premier League (DPL) Cricket at the BKSP Ground-3 in Savar on Monday.
Batting first Khelaghar piled up a mammoth total of 164 runs in the allotted 20 overs.
In reply, Dhaka Abahani Limited scored 158 off 20 overs.
Opener Imtiaz Hossain of Khelaghar Samaj Kalyan Samity hit a superb 66. His 46-ball innings was ornamented with six fours and three sixes. Imtiaz Hossain was adjudged the Man of the Match for his match-winning innings.
Mehidy Hasan Miraz of Khelaghar Samaj Kalyan Samity made 33 from 25 balls featuring four fours and a sixer.
Tanzid Hasan Sakib and Mosaddek Hossain of Dhaka Abahani Limited bagged two wickets each.
Later, Najmul Hossain Shanto of Dhaka Abahani Limited hit a sparkle 49. His 33-ball knock was decorated with seven fours and a six, while Naim Sheikh made 49 from 42 balls.
‘Mr Dependable’ Mushfiqur Rahim of Dhaka Abahani Limited failed to shine with the willow. He was dismissed by Rony Chowdhury for just four runs.
Afif Hossain of the popular Dhanmondi-based outfit made 22 from 18 balls, while Mosaddek Hossain scored 21 from 19 deliveries.
Rony Chowdhury of Khelaghar Samaj Kalyan Samity captured two wickets at the cost of 23 runs, while Khaled Ahmed got two wickets.
Mehidy Hasan Miraz was very economic in his bowling performance. He gave 19 runs in his stipulated four overs.
Dhaka Abahani Limited tasted first defeat in their Bangabandhu Dhaka Premier League campaign. The gained six points from four matches.
On the other hand, Khelaghar Samaj Kalyan Samity earned four points from four matches.
Meanwhile, Brothers Union registered a narrow two-run win over Old DOHS Sporting Club in their match of the Bangabandhu Dhaka Premier League Cricket at the BKSP Ground-4 in Savar on the same day.
Electing to bat first, Brothers Union made 139 for the loss of five wickets in the allotted 20 overs and then restricted Old DOHS to 137 for the loss of three wickets in 20 overs.
Myshukur Rahman of Brothers Union hit his team’s highest of 68. His 48-ball innings was laced with four fours and four sixes.
Later, Anisul Islam of Old DOHS notched up 65. His 50-ball knock had four sixes and three fours, while Rakin made 33 from 31 balls.
Mahmudul Hasan Joy scored 34 using 33 balls.
