Khasru for creating mass awareness to boost fish production

State Minister for Fisheries and Livestock Ashraf Ali Khan Khasru underlined the need for creating awareness among mass people for boosting fish production and protect native fishes from extinction through properly utilizing all water-bodies.
“We have to boost fish production through bringing country’s all water bodies including natural open water bodies under technology based modern pisciculture to meet the national demand for fish and achieve our socio-economic growth,” he said while inaugurating a week-long technology based fisheries fair in Netrakona.
The Ministry of Fisheries and Livestock and Bangladesh Fishery Research Institute jointly organised the fair on the premises of Netrakona old collectorate office here marking the National Fishery Week-2019.
A total of 25 colorful stalls of different species of fishes including traditional native fishes were put on display on the fair ground.

Sadar Upazila Chairman Professor Tafsiruddin Ahmed and Netrakona Press Club eneral Secretary Shamolendu Paul addressed the programme.
State Minister Ashraf Ali Khan Khasru said that a decision was taken to set up a fishery research institute in the haor area of Netrakona for boosting and preserving the fish resources of the areas.
