Noted actor and singer Khalilur Rahman Kadery has been engaged with acting for more than four decades. Though he is popular to all as an actor but many persons do not know he can render songs well. He can render songs of Bhupen Hazarika, Manna Dey and Kishore Kumar nicely.
Before six months of his SSC examination in 1975 in Gaibandha, he formed a theatre Meghdoot Natya Sangstha along with Ashish Khondaker, Bipul Bhattachrya and Swapan. He started acting by this group. In Gaibandha, they for the first time staged play Nuruldiner Sarajibon by selling tickets. In 1980, they also staged play at divisional level. In 1981, Kadery came to Dhaka. Then he worked with theatre troupe Aronnyok for eight years at a time and with Nagorik Natya Sampraidoy for nine years. He was enlisted on BTV and Betar in 1986. In TV, he first acted in Zia Ansari’s popular serial Jonaki Jwoley. He came into limelight to act in role of Kachhim Pagla in KhM Harun produced serial Shonkito Padajatra. He first performed as a model in a washing powder under Amitabh Reza’s direction. His first movie was late Abid Hasan Badol’s Dhoni Goriber Prem. Later he acted in 40 movies.
While talking about his career Kadery told this correspondent, “Once acting was my fascination but now it is my profession. I want to work in challenging roles in movies. I want to continue acting till my death.”
Kadery is happy in family life where he has wife and two sons. In Eid, he will be seen in Sumon Anwar’s Badabon and Tanim Rahman Angshu’s Aynabaji Series, he said.
