Khaledur Rahman Tito dies

Former state minister, member of parliament and elderly politician Khaledur Rahman Tito died on Sunday. He was 76.
Tito died at Jessore Combined Military Hospital (CMH) at about 1:19pm, his son Mashuk Hasan Joy said.
Joy said his father was admitted to the Jessore CMH on January 7 after he fell sick due to lung infection. He died at the intensive care unit there at about 1:19pm.
It is learned that Khaledur Rahman Tito contracted coronavirus a few months ago. After recovering from treatment in Dhaka, he returned home. Later, when he fell ill again, he went to India for treatment.
He was taken to Jessore Medical College Hospital by his family last Thursday evening. However, his condition deteriorated there and he was shifted to Jessore Combined Military Hospital.
Khaledur Rahman Tito served as Jatiya Party secretary general. At the fag end of Ershad government, he was made state minister for Labour and Manpower in May 1990. Receiving Awami League’s nomination for Jashore-3 constituency in 2008 general election, he was elected member of parliament defeating his boyhood friend Tariqul Islam.
