Information Minister Hasanul Haq Inu on Thursday said Khaleda Zia’s unity with militants is not tactical, it is ideological.
“Khaleda Zia has proved that she is not only their patron, she is the syndicate leader of the killers. Therefore, eliminating militants and their reproduction centers were equally important. Khaleda Zia has to be eliminated from politics”, he said.
The minister said this while speaking at a press conference here.
Inu paid glowing tributes to Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.
The minister regretted that Khaleda had nothing to say about the “Genocide”. He said it once again proved that Khaleda was a neo-Pakistani.
He also criticized the ‘militant appeasement policy’ of BNP.
Explaining the government’s policy, he said the government believed in preventing rather than curing the problem. Therefore, militant hideouts were being identified and flushed out before they could strike.
He also praised the police and other law enforcement agencies for their efforts and sacrifice in containing the scourge.
Criticising BNP’s criticism of democratic-deficit leading to militancy, he said: Why are there militant attacks in Belgium, France and USA? Do they have a deficiency of democracy, there, too?
The minister said militancy was a global phenomenon and added that “we have confronted it much better than many of the developed countries.”
He also criticized BNP’s request for inquiry of the Sylhet incident and said people saw for themselves what was happening – what is there to inquire.
He said this was not too surprising either, as BNP had displayed similar sympathy for the Hefazat-e-Islam.
“Whenever militants came under attack they raised the question whether they were militants at all,” he said asking Khaleda to explain her sympathy for militants and their relationship with her.
He also asked rhetorically: Was it not possible for BNP to ascend to power without the militants in tow?
Inu also asked Khaleda rhetorically if there was any deficiency of democracy when Shaikh Abdur Rahman or Bangla Bhai had emerged under their rule.
The minister said Khaleda’s husband had rehabilitated the Pakistani collaborators and now his wife was on a mission to rehabilitate militants.
