BNP Chairperson Begum Khaleda Zia’s lawyer Khandaker Mahbub Hossain on Thursday said that Khaleda Zia cannot be freed unless the government so wishes.
He made the remarks after meeting with Khaleda Zia outside the old Central Jail of Nazimuddin Road on Thursday afternoon.
Khandaker Mahbub said if she gets bail in one another case comes to the fore filed against the BNP chairperson, by the government.
He said said the government has implicated Khaleda Zia in many cases. If the government does not have the good wish, then it is not possible to free her. Earlier four lawyers entered the jail around 4pm, to brief her on the latest development related to her cases.
Advocate Khandaker Mahbub Hossain, Advocate AJ Mohammad Ali, Advocate Masud Ahmed Talukdar and Advocate Sanaullah Miah were on the team.
On Feb 8, Khaleda Zia was sentenced to five year imprisonment in the Zia Orphanage Trust case. Immediately after the verdict Khaleda Zia was taken to the old Central Jail of Nazimuddin Road. Currently she is there.
