BNP Chairperson Begum Khaleda Zia’s Press Secretary Maruf Kamal Khan has been sued for torturing his wife.
Tania Khan, wife of Maruf, lodged the case with Mohammadpur Police Station of the city on Monday night under the Women and Children Repression Prevention Act, said Jamaluddin Mir, Officer-in-Charge (OC) of the police station.
The First Information Report (FIR) of the case says that, as Tania has been protesting extra-marital relation of Maruf with more than one woman, at a stage of altercation on Monday night, he tortured Tania physically and mentally like many other previous occasions. Maruf hit Tania’s head with a rod and later the care-taker of the residence took her to Suhrawardi Medical College Hospital for treatment.
Meanwhile, Mohammad Tarek, Investigation Officer (IO) of the case told newsmen that Maruf Kamal was made the lone accused of the case. Necessary steps would be taken as per law against the accused after investigation, the IO added.
