The scheduled meeting between BNP Chairperson Begum Khaleda Zia and the visiting Secretary General of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) Iyad Ameen Madani was cancelled due to ‘unknown reason’. The meeting was scheduled to be held on Monday afternoon at BNP chairperson’s Gulshan office in the city. Khaleda Zia’s special assistant Advocate Shamsur Rahman Shimul Biswas told The New Nation that the meeting was cancelled due to ‘unavoidable circumstances’. The OIC Secretary General arrived in Dhaka on Saturday on a four-day official visit. He is scheduled to leave Dhaka today. The visit is aimed at deepening and widening the cooperation between Bangladesh and the OIC.Iyad Ameen Madani is leading a five-member delegation on his first visit to Bangladesh after taking office as the new Secretary General recently. During the visit, he has already held meetings with President Abdul Hamid Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, Finance Minister Abul Maal Abdul Muhith, Foreign Minister AH Mahmood Ali and some other high officials.
