BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir on Wednesday said that its party chief Begum Khaleda Zia is in jail with a serious health condition and demanded her immediate release.
Fakhrul said, “Begum Khaleda Zia must be treated. She uses a Wheelchair for movement. Basically her health condition has been worsening in jail day by day. So, we demand her release in no loss of time.
‘This government remains in power depriving the voters of their rights to vote and jailed her before the election. If Khaleda Zia is free, the common people would resist the injustice,’ he said.

“We all, irrespective of parties and opinions, must be vocal to protect our independence and uphold the Liberation War spirit. We’ll surely be able to defeat the current regime through launching a greater movement in the days to come.” He said.
Fakhrul further said, “For establishing democracy, Begum Khaleda Zia must be released. Everyone needs to be united. This oppressive government will have to be defeated by creating greater agitation ahead.”
Apart from Fakhrul, BNP Standing Committee Members Barrister Moudud Ahmed, Gayeshwar Chandra Roy and Nazrul Islam Khan addressed the programme.
On Sunday, Fakhrul announced the programme demanding the release of Khaleda and her proper treatment.
