A Dhaka court yesterday fixed December 22 for hearing on charge framing in Gatco graft case against BNP Chairperson Begum Khaleda Zia and others. The hearing has been deferred due to her illness.
Judge Mohammad Nazrul Islam of the Special Judge Court-3 on Wednesday fixed the new date for hearing.
Though the charge hearing was scheduled to be held on Wednesday, Khaleda Zia could not appear in the court because of her illness.
On the Wednesday, Khaleda Zia’s lawyer Hannan Bhuiyan appealed to defer the date.
On September 2, 2007, the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) filed the case against 13 people including Begum Khaleda Zia and her younger son, Arafat Rahman (deceased) with Tejgaon Model Police Station, for their alleged corruption while penning a contract with Global Agro Trade (Private) Company Limited (Gatco) for container management at inland container depots in Dhaka and Chittagong.
