BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia, who has tested positive for Covid-19, left her house in Gulshan, Dhaka for hospital to run a CT scan of her chest as a precaution on Thursday.
The BNP chief has ‘low fever, but is stable’ after contracting Covid-19, her doctor says
BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia has been taken to a hospital for a CT scan, following the advice of her physicians.
Sources in BNP media that she left her Gulshan residence at 9:20pm on Thursday for the Evercare Hospital at the Bashundhara Residential Area. She has reached the hospital, according to media reports.
Earlier on Thursday, Sairul Kabir Khan, Khaleda’s press wing official, said she was going to get CT scan as a precautionary measure. Khaleda gave her samples for Covid-19 test to the icddr,b on Saturday, and the test result came positive on Sunday. She was asymptomatic.
However, she developed a low fever on Wednesday, her medical team said on Thursday, adding that they had decided to perform a CT scan test on her to determine the next course of treatment, UNB reported.
“As a new symptom, she had low fever on Wednesday night with around 100 degrees,” said the BNP chief’s medical board head Prof Dr FM Siddiqui.
Speaking to reporters at the BNP chief’s Gulshan offices following a checkup, he said Khaleda suffered had a fever on Thursday morning as well.
“Since her chest is clear, we think she’s stable,” the physician said.
He said her sugar level is also under control.
“Today (Thursday) is Madam’s seventh day of infection and she’s now entering her second week. The complexities of Covid are usually exposed during the second week. That’s why we want to be a little more careful,” FM Siddiqui said.
He said whether Khaleda would be hospitalized or not depended on the CT scan results.
