BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia is coming to visit Sylhet today as part of the election campaign.
Awami League (AL) President and Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina and Jatiya Party Chairman Hussein Muhammad Ershad have already visited Sylhet to begin the election canvassing.
She is likely to visit Sylhet on February 5 to start her election campaign for next national polls.
She will leave Dhaka for Sylhet by road at 10 am,
a source close to BNP confirmed it.
BNP Standing committee members Dr Abdul Moyeen Khan and Nazrul Islam Khan told that the discussion about BNP chairperson’s tour to Sylhet took place recently. The next course of actions will depend on the overall situation.
According to source, the former Prime Minister is likely to return to Dhaka after offing Fateha at Hazrat Shahjalal (RA) and Hazrat Shah Paran (RA)’s shrines
But, it is not yet known whether any public meeting in Sylhet will be held or not.
Sylhet district BNP Secretary Ali Ahmed said, “Khaleda Zia will spend the night in Sylhet.
The planned tour has boosted the morale of the party activists in the district, he added.
Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina and Jatiya Party chief HM Ershad came to Sylhet on January 30 and February 1 respectively. She is awaiting a verdict in a graft case which is scheduled to be given on February 8.
