Khaleda urged to shun violence

Shipping Minister Shajahan Khan on Wednesday called upon BNP chairperson Begum Khaleda Zia to return to democratic politics shunning the path of violence.
“Stop burning people, torching vehicles and shun the path of destruction in the name of politics and come back to a democratic path,” he said.
He was speaking at a press briefing organized by Sramik-Karmachari-Peshajibi-Muktijoddha Samannoy Parishad at Jatiya Press Club auditorium in the city to announce the protest programmes of the organization against blockade and shut down called by BNP led 20-party alliances.
Later the minister, also the convener of the organization announced that, people of all walks of life will protest the violence by standing in front of their respective organizations from 12.45 to 1pm today.
He also urged all drivers to blow the horns of their vehicles for a minute at 1 pm countrywide protesting the violence.
Schedule of a larger protest movement will be announced from a convention of the organization on Feb 7 at Bangladesh Medical Association auditorium in the city at 3:00pm, he added.
