UNB, Kushtia :
Information Minister Hasanul Haq Inu on Friday said Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) chairperson Khaleda Zia will not be able to get rid of the charges she is facing in court.
“No matter how hard Khaleda Zia tries, she won’t be able to get rid of the 10-truck arms haul case, the August 21 grenade attack case, and of the corruption charges brought against her,” he said.
The Information Minister made the remarks while talking to the reporters during his visit to the shrine of Hazrat
Solaiman Shah Chisty at Golapnagar in Bheramara upazila of the district.
He also said, that Khaleda Zia has turned ‘insane’ in her bid to cover up former president Ziaur Rahman’s ‘betrayal with the constitution of the country’.
Inu said Zia took part in the Liberation War of Bangladesh as a sector commander under the then Bangabandhu-led government and also served as a military officer under the Bangabandhu-led government after the war.
“But after the killing of Bangabandhu, Zia betrayed with the constitution and the history of the country,” he said, adding that Ziaur Rahman is the fourth ‘Mirzafar’ in the history of Bangladesh.
