Commerce Minister Tofail Ahmed yesterday said BNP Chairperson Begum Khaleda Zia described the militants’ killing in city’s Kallaynpur drive as ‘made-up’ only to create an unstable situation across the country.
“BNP always issues statement favouring terrorists and militants soon after their arrests . . . Khaleda Zia is trying to create unstable situation with an ill-motive,” he told journalist after a view-exchange meeting with local leaders and workers of Awami League at Veduria of Bhola Sadar upazila here.
Tofail, also Awami League advisory council member, said people of the country responded to the call of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina in preventing militancy and a national consensus against militancy has already built up.
“People in rural areas are also united under the leadership of Sheikh Hasina,” he observed.
He was very critical about 93-day hartal and blockade enforced by BNP-Jamaat in 2015 saying that they, in name of hartal and blockade, tried to destroy country’s economy but it failed.

Referring to different development activities of the present government, the minister said Bhola, like the whole country, witnessed a tremendous progress in infrastructural sector.

“The government has sanctioned Taka 400 crore against different development sectors in the district,” he said. “There would be no kacha (mud) road in Bhola by two years,” Tifail added.
