BNP Chairperson Begum Khaleda Zia termed Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina as ‘Lady Hitler’, and urged the political parties of the country to be united to save the country and its people from this ‘Lady Hitler’.
“Abduction, killing, corruption, looting and rape are being increased in the country day by day. The government has no headache in this regard, as they came to power through a voter-less election. The political parties should come forward to save the country. Please,
come forward forgetting all the differences,” she said. The BNP chief said these while speaking at an Iftar party in the city on Saturday. A faction of Jatiya Party, a partner of the BNP-led 20-party alliance, arranged the Iftar party at the Bashundhara Convention Centre in honour of the political leaders, foreign diplomats, journalists, professionals and eminent citizens.
Chairman of Jatiya Party Kazi Zafor Ahmed and secretary general Mostafa Jamal Haider received the guests.
Former President and Bikalpa Dhara chief Prof Dr AQM Badrudduza Chowdhury, BNP vice-chairman Begum Selima Rahman, Dr Ridwan Ullah Shahidi of Jamaat-e-Islami, chairman of Islami Oikya Jote Maulana Abdul Latif Nejami, president of Jatiya Gonotantrik Party Shafiul Alam Prodhan, chairman of Bangladesh Kalyan Party Maj (Retd) Syed Mohammad Ibrahim Birpratik, Dr Redwan Ahmed of Liberal Democratic Party (LDP), chairman of Bangladesh NAP Jebel Rahman Ghaani and Dr Fariduzzamn Farhad of National People’s Party joined the Iftar, among others.
Chinese Ambassador in Dhaka Ma Mingqiang, Dr Zafrullah Chowdhury of Gonosawstho Kendra, journalist Mahfuz Ullah and several other professionals also joined the function.
Khaleda Zia said that the country is now passing through a crisis moment. “There is no democracy in the country. There is no rule of law in the country. All of us have to come forward to save the country and its people from the prevailing situation,” she said.
She came down heavily on the government for recently importing rotten wheat from Brazil. She said that the ruling party men plundered crores of taka and laundered money, but they are not caught and tried.
She also said that the ruling party men smuggled the country’s property and their money to Swiss Banks.
