Amid the ongoing non-stop blockade enforced by her party-led 20-party alliance, BNP chairperson Begum Khaleda Zia is going to hold a press conference this afternoon.
The news conference will be held at 4pm at her Gulshan office, a press release signed by her press secretary Maruf Kamal Khan said on Thursday. Party sources said, the BNP chief at the press meet will focus on the country’s latest political situation and her party’s stance.
She will justify the reasons behind the prolonged blockade of the 20-party alliance that remains in force for 66 days as of Thursday alongside hartal on working days for the last six consecutive weeks.
The BNP chief is also likely to narrate the government’s various “failures, misdeeds and repressive acts and widespread violation of human rights”, the sources added.
They said, she will also talk about the violence during the 20-party’s hartal and blockade.
A source close to Khaleda said though the BNP chief is unlikely to withdraw the ongoing blockade programme, she may announce a public rally in the city or any other new action programme.
Khaleda held the last press conference on January 19, when the government withdrew its siege to her office nearly after 15 days. She has been living in her political office since January 3 last.
