Ehsanul Haque Jasim :
BNP Chairperson Begum Khaleda Zia is likely to join election campaign this week in favour of BNP-backed candidates in the three city corporations’ polls.
Khaleda Zia wants to see the victory of the party backed candidates in the three cities.
Khaleda Zia has asked her party men to work under the banner of ‘Adarsha Dhaka Andolan’, a pro-BNP professionals’ platform floated for working in favour of the BNP-backed candidates.
Sources said that the ‘Adarsha Dhaka Andolan’ would begin the election campaign formally through
holding a rally, led by Khaleda Zia, in the city this week. The rally is scheduled to be held in the Institution of Engineers Bangladesh (IEB) in the capital city on April 13.
This time, though Prime Minister, Ministers, opposition leaders and MPs won’t be able to take part in the election campaign in the city polls as per election rules, Khaleda Zia does not face any such hurdle, as she is no more an elected representative.
