Criticising BNP chairperson Khaleda Zia for ‘her involvement in subversive activities’, senior Awami League leaders on Saturday said Khaleda Zia will be defeated again.
“In the name of so-called movement, she (Khaleda) is killing people. Khaleda will be defeated again as done during the 2014 election,” AL Advisory Council member Tofail Ahmed said while addressing a mammoth public rally.
AL organised by the rally, marking the historic March 7 at Suhrawardy Udyan in the capital, where Father of the Nation Sheikh Mujibur Rahman delivered his epoch-making speech of the independence on this day in 1971.
Tofail, also the Commerce Minister, said BNP leader Khaleda Zia is engaged in subversive activities to resist the unprecedented development of the country.
Another AL advisory council member Amir Hossain Amu said the BNP-Jamaat nexus is now trying to create a constitutional vacuum and engaged in destructive activities in the country.
He said the conspiracy of Khaleda Zia is not just against Sheikh Hasina or Awami Legaue government. “Rather Khaleda Zia is now conspiring against the country, its independence and sovereignty.”
AL advisory council member Suranjit Sengupta criticised diplomats for suggesting the government to hold dialogue with BNP. “Let me ask you one question, will you sit for dialogue with Boko Haram of Nigeria, successor of Laden Zawahir? If not, why you are asking us to hold dialogue with militant Khaleda Zia,” he said.
AL presidium member and Agriculture Minister Matia Chowdhury said Khaleda Zia is acting as the agent of ISI and wanted to destroy Bangladesh.
Terming Khaleda Zia an evil, she said the evil always gets defeated by the human.
AL presidium member and Health Minister Mohammad Nasim said the election will be held in 2019 and the people of the country will elect Sheikh Hasina as the Prime Minister for the fourth time.
Asking the BNP chief to come to the path of healthy politics, Nasim said: “Wait till 2019, if people do not elect us again, we’ll have no problem.”
AL presidium member Sheikh Fazlul Karim Selim said Khaleda Zia is now engaged in mass killing like Pakistani Military Junta Yahya Khan.
AL Dhaka City unit acting president MA Aziz said that the defeated force of 10971 is trying to raise its heads again and the people of the country will resist them.
AL city unit general secretary and Relief Minister Mofazzal Hossain Chowdhury Maya said Khaleda Zia is a killer and militant. “Khaleda Zia should be arrested to save Bangladesh and its Independence.”
AL joint secretary Mahbubul Alam Hanif, MP said Khaleda Zia wanted to put the country back into its miserable days back in 1971. “We’ll have to vanish the evil forces, we have to root out Khaleda Zia and her killer collaborators from Bangladesh,” he said.
Joint secretary Jahangir Kabir Nanak MP, organizing secretary Khalid Mahmud Chowdhury MP, Awami Juba League general secretary Harunur Rashid, Mohila Awami League president Fazilatunnesa Musharraf, Bangladesh Krishak League general Secretary Advocate Khandaker Shamsul Huq Reza, Jatiya Sramik League executive president Fazlul Huq Montu, Swechhasebak League president Advocate Molla Md Kawsar and Juba Mohila League general secretary Apu Ukil, among others, addressed the rally.

Earlier, leaders and activists of Awami League and its affiliate bodies from the city and its adjacent areas gathered at the rally’s venue with banners and festoons of their respective areas and units.
