BNP Chairperson Begum Khaleda Zia is likely to go to Saudi Arabia tomorrow (Wednesday) to perform Hajj.
Besides, her (Khaleda) son and party’s Senior Vice Chairman Tarique Rahman is also expected to go there to perform Hajj, said a senior party leader on Monday.
Apart from performing Hajj, Begum Khaleda Zia and Tarique Rahman will
also hold talks on several issues specially relating to the latest development of the country’s political arena as well as on the party’s next course of action plan during their stay in Saudi Arabia, he added
However, according to sources, Tarique Rahman has not obtained his visa till Monday. If Tarique finally fails to get visa, Khaleda Zia will talk to him (Tarique) over skipe and telephone.
“We are expecting that our Chairperson and Senior Vice Chairman will frame the strategies about the party’s next course of action plan,” BNP standing committee member Brigadier General (rtd) ASM Hannan Shah told The New Nation on Monday.
According to the party insiders, as government always records the telephonic conversations of the BNP leaders, Khaleda Zia could talk to Tarique Rahman easily from abroad.
Keeping in mind on issues like erratic power failure as well as price hike of essentials, Khaleda Zia and Tarique Rahman will frame the strategy for waging movement against what the party said ‘fascist government’, they added.
Besides, many BNP leaders are frustrated and unhappy over recently declared central committee. Begum Khaleda Zia had prepared the central committee after discussing with his son Tarique Rahman while they met in London last year.
But the leaders have failed to gear up the party activities as many leaders, workers and supporters are disappointed over the newly declared committee.
To defuse the unrest among the leaders and workers, Begum Khaleda Zia is considering to form central sub-committees based on different subjects and she has already prepared a list in this regard. And she will also talk to Tarique Rahman on this issue.
The party high-ups will also finalise its associate bodies’ committees like Jatiyatabadi Juba Dal, Jatiyatabadi Swechchhasebak Dal, Jatiyatabadi Krishak Dal, Jatiyatabadi Mohila Dal and others as their tenures have already expired many years ago.
On the other hand, the committee of Dhaka City unit of BNP will also be finalised during her stay in Saudi Arabia.
Tarique Rahman has already prepared a draft for the central sub-committees and party’s associate bodies, a party insider said.
