BNP chairperson Khaleda Zia on Monday expressed profound shock at the death of former Indian president and nuclear scientist Dr APJ Abdul Kalam.
In a condolence message, Khaleda said, “As a nuclear scientist, ex-Indian President APJ Abdul Kalam engaged himself in the welfare of people.”
The former Prime Minister said during his stay in office as the president, Abdul Kalam helped the friendship and ties between the people of Bangladesh and India scale a respected position.
Recalling his visit to Bangladesh after leaving the presidential post, she said Abdul Kalam won the
hearts of the people of Bangladesh. Khaleda prayed for the eternal peace of the departed soul and conveyed her deep sympathy to the greatly shocked people of India, his fans, well-wishers and the bereaved family members. APJ Kalam, who was known as the father of the country’s military missile programme, died on Monday after collapsing while delivering a lecture at Shillong. He was 84.
