BNP chief asks to go ahead with unity: Khaleda seriously sick Fakhrul demands her immediate release

BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir on Monday urged the government to release party Chairperson Khaleda Zia from jail immediately as she is seriously sick.
 “Our party chief is severely ill. She needs to get medical treatment in any specialized hospital. We are demanding her immediate release from jail for her proper treatment,” he said this to journalists after meeting with Khaleda Zia in old Dhaka Central Jail.
The BNP Secretary General said that the party chief also asked them to go ahead with the people’s unity under the Jatiya Oikyafront to free democracy.
A day after the announcement to join the general election, five senior leaders of the BNP met with Khaleda Zia at Nazimuddin Road old central jail yesterday afternoon. Mirza Fakhrul along with party Standing Committee Members Dr. Khandaker Mosharraf Hossain, Barrister Moudud Ahmed, Jamiruddin Sircar and Mirza Abbas entered the jail around 2:40pm to meet the party chairperson. They came back from the jail at 4:25pm.
Party sources said, the senior leaders discussed various issues relating to national election with Khaleda Zia. They sought her guidelines about seat distributions with the party’s two alliances and giving nomination to party aspirants.
They also sought guidelines about future course of action.
Khaleda Zia listened to them and gave necessary guidelines on the issues.
