Staff Reporter :The lawyers of BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia on Tuesday filed a supplementary petition with the High Court, seeking a stay on the arrest warrant against her. Earlier, Khaleda filed a no-confidence petition with the High Court, seeking the change of court, which is dealing with Zia Orphanage and Zia Charitable Trust graft cases.Barrister AM Mahbub Uddin Khokon, who moved the petition on behalf of Khaleda Zia, said they had earlier filed a petition to change the BNP Chairperson’s case from the Special Judge Court-3 of Abu Ahmed Jamadar. The HC bench of Justice Md Rezaul Haque and Justice Md Khasruzzaman is expected to hear the petition for the change of trial court on Thursday.The supplementary petition for a stay on the arrest warrant against Khaleda Zia will also be heard on the same day, Barrister Khokon, also the joint secretary general of BNP, said. “We have given a copy of our application to the prosecution also,” he said. “Earlier, we filed the petition to change the court and now have included the supplementary application with it,” Khokon added. Judge Abu Ahmed Jamadar of the Special Judge Court-3 turned down the bail plea of Khaleda Zia and issued arrest warrant against her on February 25 for her repeated absence in the court during the case proceedings.
