BNP chairperson Khaleda Zia, now in Saudi
Arabia, performed Umrah at the holy Kaba Sharif in Makkah in the early hours of Wednesday.
Khaleda along with her eldest son and BNP senior vice chairman Tarique Rahman, his wife
Dr Zobaida Rahman and daughter Zaima Rahman started performing the rituals of Umrah around 1:15am (Saudi time) and completed that around 3am, her press secretary Maruf Kamal Khan told UNB from Makkah.
Later, they offered a munajat on Marwa Hill seeking divine blessings for the peace, progress and prosperity of Bangladesh and its people as well as the unity and solidarity of the Muslim Ummah. They also sought divine blessings for the continuation of democracy and stability in Bangladesh.
