A Dhaka court on Monday ordered 11 persons including BNP Chief Begum Khaleda Zia to appear at his court on May 22 in the case filed in connection with Barapukuria coal mine.
Judge of the Special Judge Court-2 of Dhaka passed the order on Monday after hearing in
the case. Besides, the court also directed the defence to submit an order from the apex court that adjourns the proceedings of the case.
Khaleda Zia could not appear to the court due to her illness. Meanwhile, her lawyers sought time citing her illness.
On February 26, 2008, Md Shamsul Alam, the then Assistant Director of the Anti Corruption (ACC) filed the case with Shahbagh Police Station against 16 persons including Khaleda Zia and members of her cabinet for causing loss to the national exchequer in connection with the coal mine.
