Khaleda offers Fateha at Koko’s grave

BNP chairperson Khaleda Zia on Sunday offered fateha at the grave of her younger son Arafat Rahman Koko at Banani Graveyard, marking his 1st death anniversary. A weeping Khaleda also offered a munajat seeking salvation of Koko’s departed soul.
The BNP chief reached the graveyard around 2pm and broke down in tears as she stepped towards Koko’s grave.
Later, she offered fateha and munajat with some relatives and party colleagues.
Khaleda recited from the holy Quran beside Koko’s grave and stayed there for nearly 40 minutes.
Earlier in the day, BNP acting secretary general Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir along with some party men, including party standing committee member Nazrul Islam Khan, placed a wreath on Koko’s grave around 11am paying homage to him.
They also offered fateha there and prayed for the eternal peace of his departed soul.
Later, Fakhrul distributed blankets among some poor people near the graveyard at a programme arranged by Arafat Rahman Koko Krira Sangsad.
On the occasion, BNP held a discussion and doa mahfil at Bhasani Auditorium in the city’s Nayapaltan area after Asr prayers.
Mirza Fakhrul, party standing committee members Tariqul Islam, Nazrul Islam Khan, joint secretaries general Amanullah Aman, Ruhul Kabir Rizvi and other leaders and activists of the party and its associate bodies were present.
Qurankhwani and doa mahfils were also held on Koko’s grave premises and the BNP chief’s Gulshan residence and office to mark the death anniversary.
On January 24, Arafat Rahman Koko died of cardiac arrest at the age of 45 at his rented house in Malaysia. His body was brought back home on January 27 and buried at Banani Graveyard.
