UNB, Dhaka :BNP chairperson Khaleda Zia on Thursday expressed deep shock at the death of Kazi Zafar Ahmed, chairman of her party-led 20-party’s component Jatiya Party (Z) and former prime minister.In a condolence message, she said, “Kazi Zafar Ahmed played a pivotal role in student politics in the 60s. Later, he also played a glorious role in all democratic and rights movements and in the Liberation War.”The BNP chief recalled his outstanding contributions to establishing the rights of workers in the country. She said Kazi Zafar joined the BNP-led 20-party alliance with an aimto free the country’s current besieged politics. “The nation has lost a high-stature and seasoned politician at his death.”Khaleda prayed for the eternal peace of the departed soul and conveyed her sympathy to the bereaved family members. In another condolence message, BNP acting secretary general Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir condoled Kazi Zafar’s death. Kazi Zafar Ahmed, also former presidium member of the Ershed-led Jatiya Party, passed away on Thursday morning at a city hospital at the age of 76.
