BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia on Saturday expressed profound shock at the death of Cuba’s former president and great leader of its communist revolution Fidel Castro. In a condolence message, she said Fidel Castro will forever be remembered by the people of Bangladesh due to his outstanding contributions to country’s Liberation War in 1971. “He was a global voice for the rights of the deprived people of the world,” she observed. The BNP chief also recalled Fidel Castro’s role in establishing the Non-Aligned Movement (NAM).
She prayed for eternal peace of the departed soul and expressed deep sympathy to the people of Cuba and its government. Meanwhile, in a message on her Twitter account, Khaleda said, “A genuine friend of people & heroic revolutionary has sadly died. But Fidel Castro will live forever in the annals of human history.”
