Khaleda may visit India to attend prog

UNB, Dhaka :BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia is likely to visit India in the second week of March as she has been invited to join a programme, ‘Global Leadership Forum’, scheduled to be held in Delhi.Party senior leaders said the BNP chief will go to India to join the programme if she gets appointments to meet some top Indian government high-ups and ruling BJP leaders.The invitation letter, signed by co-chair of the reception committee of theforum Justice RC Lahoti, Former Chief Justice of India, and vice-chair Prof Ruud Lubbers, Former Prime Minister, Netherlands, was sent to Khaleda on January 20.The Global Leadership Forum will be held under the aegis of the World Culture Festival, a celebration of The Art of Living’s 35 years of service to humanity. It will bring together 3.5 million people from 155 countries to celebrate the rich cultural traditions of the world with the goal of fostering deeper understanding and seeing the world as one family and promoting deeper understanding and cooperation amongst nations.At the event, renowned leaders and personalities from diverse backgrounds will discuss, analyse and reflect paradigms of leadership in a globalized, interdependent geopolitical and socio-economic landscape.Contacted, BNP international affairs secretary Asaduzzaman Ripon said, “I’ve came to know that BNP chairperson has received an invitation to join a programme of international think tanks in India.”He said their chairperson may go there as BNP attaches its importance to consolidating ties with the neighbouring country which had outstanding contributions to liberating the country in 1971.
