BSS, Dhaka :
Dhaka City Awami League joint general secretary and Food Minister Advocate Quamrul Islam said Tarique Rahman has been trying to distort history at the instigation of BNP chairperson Begum Khaleda Zia.
“Khaleda Zia and her son Tarique Rahman are desperate to blacken the national politics. Healthy politics can never be expected from BNP,” the minister said.
Quamrul Islam said this on Friday while speaking as the chief guest at a discussion in the city.
Bangabandhu Sangskritik Jote organised the discussion at Shilpakala Academy at Segunbagicha in the capital marking the first death anniversary of Awami League presidium member Syeda Zohra Tajuddin and popular actor Khaled Khan.
Jote vice-president and eminent cultural personality Syed Hasan Imam chaired the discussion, also addressed, among others, by Dhaka City Awami League organising secretary Shahe Alam Murad and Jote vice-president Mobarak Ali Shikdar and general secretary Arun Sarker Rana.
In reply to the threat of movement by BNP, Quamrul Islam
said, “People of the country will not take to the streets at your (BNP’s) call to take part in the movement. BNP has got no organisational strength to attract people in their so-called movement.”
