BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia on Monday took iftar with leaders of different political parties.
The BNP chief hosted the iftar in honour of politicians at International Convention City Bashundhara. Entering the venue around 6:26pm, Khaleda exchanged pleasantries with the guests walking around tables.
A munajat was offered before breaking the fast seeking peace, progress and prosperity of the country and its people.
Though Awami League President and
Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina and its senior leaders were invited to the programme, no one of them turned up.
Several hundred leaders of different political parties, including Bikalpa Dhara Bangladesh, Krishak Sramik Janata League, Jatiya Samajtantrik Dal (RAB) and Nagarik Oikya apart from the BNP-led 20-party alliance joined the programme.
Former President and Bikalpa Dhara chief Badruddoza Chowdhury, its general secretary Abdul Mannan, Jatiya Samajtantrik Dal (JSD) president ASM Abdur Rab, his wife Tania Rab, JSD general secretary Abdul Malek Ratan, Nagorik Oikya convener Mahmudur Rahman Manna, Krishak Sramik Janata League general secretary Habibur Rahman Talukder, Liberal Democratic Party chief Oli Ahmad, Kalyan Party chairman Syed Mohammad Ibrahim, Jamaat-e-Islami central leader Prof Mujibur Rahman, Islami Oikya Jote leader MA Rakib, Jatiya Party (Zafar) leader TIM Fazle Rabbi Chowdhury, late Jagpa president’s wife Prof Rehana, Khelafat Majlish leader Moulana Syed Mujibur Rahman, BJP leader Abdul Matin, National People’s Party (NPP) leader Farhaduzzaman Farhad, National Democratic Party (NDP) leader Khandaker Golam Mortuza, Bangladesh NAP leader Zebel Rahman Gani and Labour Party chief Mostafizur Rahman Iran, among others, attended the iftar.
BNP secretary general Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir, standing committee members Khandaker Mosharraf Hossain, Mirza Abbas, Nazrul Islam Khan, Amir Khasru Mahmud Chowdhury, and other leaders of the party and its associate bodies were present.
