BNP Chairperson Begum Khaleda Zia hosted an Iftar party in honour of the country’s eminent citizens and professionals at the Bashundhara Convention Centre in the city on Thursday.
Nearly 1,500 invited guests, including teachers, doctors, engineers, ex-judges, lawyers, journalists, former military officials, ex-bureaucrats and businessmen attended the Iftar.

Adviser to the caretaker government Prof Dr MA Mazed, President of Supreme Court Bar Association Advocate Khandaker Mahbub Hossain, Rear Admiral (Retd) Shah Ikbal Muztaba, former DU VC Prof Dr Emajuddin Ahmed, DU professors Dr AFM Yusuf Haider, Dr Mahbub Ullah and Dr Sadrul Amin, former VC of Jahangirnagar University Dr Khandaker Mustahidur Rahman, journalists Shafik Rehman, Shaukat Mahmud and Mahfuz Ullah, Jatiya Press Club President Kamal Uddin Sabuj and film director Chashi Nazrul Islam attended, among others.
BNP senior leaders, including the party acting secretary general Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir, standing committee member Barrister Rafiqul Islam Miah, also attended the function.
Earlier on Wednesday, Khaleda Zia hosted the Iftar party for political leaders at the same venue. Her next Iftar party will be hosted for diplomats tomorrow (Saturday) at Hotel Westin and for the editors and senior journalists on Sunday at the same venue.
