Publicity and Publication Affairs Secretary of Awami League (AL) Dr. Hasan Mahmud said here on Wednesday BNP has no right to speak about the recently held polls of Dhaka and Chittagong city corporations as they boycotted those three hours after the voting had started.
“BNP Chairperson Begum Khaleda Zia has no right to raise question over the neutrality and fairness of city polls as they played only three hours out of eight hours,” he said as the chief guest while addressing a discussion marking the 11th death anniversary of noted labour and AL leader Ahsanullah Master.
Referring to a cricket match, he questioned, “Is there any scope for a team in cricket to put a question about the victory or defeat by boycotting a 50-over match after playing only 10 overs on the plea of inclement weather?”
“She (Khaleda Zia) wanted to shift her wrongdoings to people what she did after not participating in the January 5, 2014 national elections. She has killed 170 people with firebombs after calling hartal and strike,” he also said.
“Khaleda Zia boycotted the city polls after realizing that the people have already deserted her,” said Hasan, also a former Forest and Environment Minister.
The AL leader called upon the people to forge unity against the politics of killings enforced by the BNP to pay respect to the honest and dedicated politicians like Ahsanullah Master.
Among others, AL labour secretary, Habibur Rahman Siraj, commander of Gazipur unit of Muktijodha Command Council, Gazi Mozammel Haque, MA Karim and Principal Shahjahan Alam Saju, spoke on the occasion.
President of Ahsanullah Master Smriti Parishad Advocate Abdul Baten presided over the discussion while reporter of Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha (BSS) Ataur Rahman conducted it.
