UNB, Dhaka :A medical team, led by former Vice Chancellor of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical College (BSMMU) Prof Tahir, visited BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia’s Gulshan office on Monday and said she is fine.However, they said BNP standing committee member Nazrul Islam Khan and vice chairman Selima Rahman are sick.The medical team comprising four doctors and a nurse entered Khaleda’ s office at around 2:55pm and examined the health conditions of those staying inside it.Emerging from the office, Prof Tahir said, “I met Khaleda Zia. Though I didn’t examine her health, it seems she’s fine.”He said he examined Selima Rahman and Nazrul Islam Khan and found them ill a bit.”I’ve treated many political leaders irrespective of their parties and opinions. I’ve come here to visit Khaleda Zia and others and examined their health conditions, Tahir said.He also said, he came to the BNP chief’s office following request of her personal physicians. “There’s no politics in it.”The other members of the medical team are BSMMU orthopaedic department Prof Sirajuddin Ahmed, Bangladesh Medical College and Hospital cardiology department head Prof Touwhidul Haq, Enam Medical College Hospital Associate Prof SM Rafiqul Islam and nurse Labony Akhter.The team stayed at the office for around three hours and conducted the health check-up of the BNP leaders, office staff and Khaleda’s security personnel.The BNP chief along with around 50 BNP leaders, office staff and security personnel has been staying in the office since January 3.Though the medical team took some dry food and fruits for those staying inside the office, the law enforcers deployed in front of it did allow them to take those into the office.The law enforcers stopped food supply to the office from January 11.They, however, are not resisting Khaleda’s relatives from supplying food for her to the office.
