BNP chairperson Begum Khaleda Zia has expressed concern over the meeting of senior ministers with the owners of private TV channels and alleged that the government is imposing censorship on the news of mass-media to hide its failure.
“The ministers of the government issued threat to the private TV channels in the name of holding view
exchange with owners of the TV channels. The government is doing it so that the people can’t know the repression of the government and the current situation of the country. The government wants to cling to power through censoring the media,” Khaleda Zia said on Thursday.
Her adviser and journalist leader Shaukat Mahmud disclosed the statement of the BNP chief while talking to reporters after a meeting with Khaleda Zia in her Gulshan office in the evening.
Earlier in the afternoon, some ministers held a view exchange meeting with owners of different electronic media at the conference room of Information Ministry.
