BNP Chairperson Begum Khaleda Zia will make a courtesy call on visiting Indian External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj today (Friday) morning. The meeting will be held in the Hotel Sonargaon at 10:15 am.
BNP Vice-Chairman Shamsher Mobin Chowdhury said that Khaleda Zia would meet the Indian Minister at her (Sushma’s) invitation. Party sources said that the BNP Chief would lead a delegation of her party, including Acting Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir, Shamsher Mobin Chowdhury and some other senior leaders.
The sources also said that Khaleda Zia will discuss various issues relating to bilateral relations, January-5 election, country’s latest political situation, and will try to convince her about the necessity of an inclusive and early fresh election in Bangladesh.
BNP sees the meeting between Khaleda Zia and Sushma as an window for ushering in a new horizon in relation between the BNP and the BJP on one hand, and Bangladesh and India on the other. “Khaleda Zia met Sushma last year during her visit to India. We hope that the ties between the two countries under the new leadership in India would further improve. The meeting will usher in a new horizon,” said Shamsher Mobin Chowdhury.
