UNB, Dhaka :
BNP chairperson Khaleda Zia on Tuesday night blamed Awami League for the 1/11 changeover and said the current government is worse than that of the army-backed caretaker regime.
“She (PM) herself said about minus-two formula. The actors of the 1/11 couldn’t dare to do anything (against us) had we been united… she had gone to their oath-taking ceremony and said the regime was the result of her movement, which means she created the ground for it. So, she can’t be excluded (from the list of 1/11 masterminds),” Khaleda said.
The BNP chief came up with the remarks while providing financial assistance among the family members of those party’s Chittagong unit leader who were killed and injured during their movement last year.
Ziaur Rahman Foundation arranged the programme at BNP chairperson’s Gulshan office.
Khaleda questioned whether Sheikh Hasina came out of jail and went abroad after 11 months of her jailing to make an understating with the 1/11 regime to go to power.
“I had fought the 1/11 actors. I told them I wouldn’t comply with your words as I can’t do anything deceiving people. So, I didn’t go anywhere leaving
the country and stayed back in jail. I had been in jail for one year and eight days,” she said.
Mentioning the names of some army officers who were active during the 1/11, the BNP chief said some masterminds of the 1/11 are still there in the country. “Why aren’t they in jail?
Khaleda alleged that the government has continued its repression and suppression though there is no movement in the country now. “The country isn’t in a good shape. People are getting arrested regularly.
