UNB, Dhaka :
BNP chairperson Khaleda Zia has accused the government of abusing state power by obstructing her party’s relief team from providing humanitarian assistance to Rohingyas in Cox’s Bazar’s Ukhia upazila.
“Government’s obstacle to BNP’s efforts to help displaced Rohingyas is an abuse of state power for selfish ends,” she said in a twitter message on Thursday night.
“It deserves the strongest condemnation,” the BNP chief added.
On Wednesday, BNP alleged that the government barred its central relief team from going to Cox’s Bazar’s Ukhia upazila with 20 trucks loaded with relief materials.
The high-profile BNP team, led by its standing committee member Mirza Abbas, was scheduled to visit the Rohingya refugee camps in Cox’s Bazar’s Ukhia and give the hapless Rohingyas medicines, food and other humanitarian aids.
But the local administration did not allow Abbas and other team members, including BNP standing committee members Nazrul Islam Khan, Amir Khasru Mahmud Chowdhury and vice chairman Shamsuzzaman Dudu and AZM Zahid to go to the Rohingya camp with the relief materials.
