Rear Admiral M. Khaled Iqbal has been appointed as the new Vice-Chancellor of the sole specialized maritime public university of the country, “Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman Maritime University, Bangladesh”, says a press release on Thursday.
Before joining here he served as the Chairman of the Chittagong Port Authority. He joined Bangladesh Navy in January, 1981 and commissioned in Executive Branch on June 01, 1983.
Rear Admiral A S M Abdul Baten joined the university as the first Vice-Chancellor on 02 February 2014. After successful completion of his tenure as the Vice-Chancellor, he will be returning to Bangladesh Navy. Through a formal programme, the outgoing Vice-Chancellor handed over his duties to the newly appointed Vice-Chancellor. Treasurer, Regisrar, Deans, Faculty member, Officers and staffs were present at the programme as well.
The newly appointed VC Rear Admiral M. Khaled Iqbal hopes that, he will work to maintain the standard of the education and research facility of the university through ensuring effective academic and administrative activities.
