Police have arrested Zami Uddin Johnny, 30, a drug addict for killing his father at Dighinala in Khagrachhari. He was arrested from Madhyabetchhari area of the upazila on Friday (September 10) night.
Police said Jasim Uddin Johnny, a resident of Jamtali Bangalipara area of the upazila, randomly stabbed his father Mintu Mia, 51, on Friday. Mintu Mia died on the spot due to excessive bleeding. At one stage of the quarrel with the father over the drug money, the drug addicted son hacked and killed the father. The killer boy later fled. Upon receiving the news, the police recovered the body of the deceased from the spot.
Md Mubarak Ali, the father of the deceased, said, ‘My son Mintu Mia and grandson Jasim Uddin Johnny are both addicted to drugs. The two got into a quarrel over drug money and the murder took place.
