Tomare legechhe eto je bhalo chand bujhi ta jane and Aynate oi mukh dekhbe jokhon are two legendary popular romantic
play-back songs in Bangladesh’s film industry. First song
was used in Ehtesham directed and Shabnam-Rahman-starrer movie Rajdhanir Bukey and second song was used in Ashoke Ghosh directed and Razzak-Shabnam-starrer movie Nacher Putul. Robin Ghosh was the composer of these two songs. Talat Mahmud lent his voice for the song Tomare legechhe eto je bhalo chand bujhi ta jane, while Mahmudunnabi render the song Aynate oi mukh dekhbe jokhon. Noted lyricist KG Mostafa wrote lyrics of these two songs. This noted poet, lyricist, journalist and columnist is now living silently in the capital’s Azimpur area now. There is nobody in the country who did not hear KG Mostafa composed these two legendary play-back songs. After writing lyrics of these two songs, he wrote many other songs. Now if he does not continue composing songs he will alive by these two legendary songs among all. KG Mostafa is still writing songs. Boshe achhi janalai opekkha niye was his last written song, which was rendered by Mamun Zahid.
KG Mostafa got little bit scope to hear singers of present generation. While talking in this regard he said, “I got the opportunity to hear songs of many singers of this generation. But compositions of these songs do not attract me. There are many melodious voices among the singers of present generation. We should utilize them as their songs remain alive forever.”
KG Mostafa was born in Begumganj of Noakhali on July 1 in 1937. He completed masters in Bangla Language and Literature in 1960 from University of Dhaka. In 1958, he started to work as trainee journalist in daily Ittehad. In 1976, he became cadre of BSC (Information) and joined in post of Assistant Editor at Department of Films and Publications. In 1996, he retired as senior editor (rank of deputy secretary). He also worked as assistant director in many films. He has written books of poetry, rhyme and songs, audio CDs and cassettes. He received many awards including Bangladesh Shilpakala Padak.
