KFC National Women’s Football Championship to begin May 3

The knockout basis-qualifying round of KFC National Women’s Football Championship will begin on May 3 at the two zonal venues — Laxmipur and Rajshahi Stadiums, across the country.
This time 43 district and services teams will participate in the meet where as 37 teams took part in the last year’s edition.
The matches of Kushtia and Rangpur venues and Bagerhat and Dhaka venues will start on May 3 and 6 respectively.
The champion teams of six venues will qualify for the final round. Later, six champion teams, host team and last year champion team of the meet will play for the eight-team final round that will be held in the end of May. However, the date and venue of the final round are yet to be fixed.
Title sponsor KFC kept their support for the development of women’s football, as they will provide sponsor money of Taka 15,000 to Bangladesh Football Federation (BFF) for organising the competition while FIFA will also give logistic support to BFF giving U$ 30,000.00.
The participating teams of the competition will receive Taka 20,000 as appearance money in addition the winners will get extra Taka 5000.
In this regards, a press conference was held today at the BFF conference room to give all the details of the meet.
KFC regional manager Mijanur Rahman said, ” We have been associating with BFF for a long time. our aim is to take the country’s women’s sports ahead and we hope to see good football from women in future.”
BFF women’s football wing chairman Sirajul Islam Bacchu, co- chairman Mahfuza Akter Kiron and BFF general secretary Abu Nayeem Sohag were present, among others, at the press conference.
